What will you study?
This exciting and challenging course will introduce you to the health and social care
sector. Students will gain the important knowledge, understanding and skills that are
the foundations for working in this area. This will include many of the skills that are
used by healthcare professionals on a day-to-day basis, such as assessing people’s
health and wellbeing and designing individualised health care plans. You will also learn
about health care services and the importance of care values, with the opportunity to
apply these in realistic scenarios.

Human Lifespan Development
- Understand human growth and development across life stages and the factors
that affect it - Investigate how individuals deal with life events
Health and Social Care Services and Values
- Understand the different types of health and social care services and barriers to
accessing them - Demonstrate care values and review your own practice
Health and Wellbeing
- Factors that affect health and wellbeing
- Interpreting health indicators
- Person-centred health and wellbeing improvement plans
