Health & Social Care

Vision

At Colchester Academy we lead this course through the vision that “ A healthy outside starts from the inside” and we equip students with the knowledge to truly understand the meaning to this. The course is set up to create excellence for students who aspire to work in health or social care settings as a career, for example; Social Workers, Carers, Doctors, Nurses, Teachers and Support Workers.

Key Stage 4

The 2 year course holds three main structures to support students through. These are; explore, develop and apply. We first encourage students to explore human lifespan development, then move on to develop knowledge and understanding of the range of sectors available in the health and social care and demonstrating this in role play situations and finally with them applying their prior learning to health and wellbeing fundamentals for specified individuals in an exam based learning style. It is through the assignment and exam styles alike  that students will learn to become resilient learners, whilst having a respect for those who they apply their knowledge to.
