Science

Year 7

Students begin an introduction into a vast array of topics that constitute science such as; acids and alkali, chemical reactions, organisms and cells, the human body, space, forces and energy. In addition to this they build their practical skills and develop scientific literacy.

Year 8

Students continue to explore the vast array of topics that constitute Science such as; electrical circuits, organ systems, ecosystems, the structure of matter, energy transforms and forces in motion. In addition to this they will continue to build their practical skills and develop scientific literacy.

Year 9

Students use Year 9 to bridge the gap between Key Stage 3 Science and GCSE that they will be moving onto. They develop key skills, knowledge and scientific literacy within the areas of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Year 10

Students extend their core knowledge within the areas of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. They develop the investigation skills and conduct controlled assessments and explore in greater detail the subject areas that allow them to understand how science works.

Year 11

Students consolidate and extend their knowledge within the areas of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Controlled assessments are completed during the year and students prepare themselves for their GCSE exams at the end of the year.
