Year 8 Parents and Options Evening

I would like to invite you to Year 8 Options Evening which will take place on Thursday 5 March between 4pm – 7pm. The evening has combined Parents’ and Options Evening so you will have the opportunity to have conversations about the options process and suitability of the course with those who know your child best – the classroom teacher. An appointment system will be in operation and your child will be given a sheet to record these appointments on.

You will have the opportunity to gain an understanding of the options process through a presentation which will take place at 5pm and 6pm. Once you have attended the presentation you can then attend the appointments with subject staff. I encourage students to make as many appointments with staff so they can gather as much information as possible.

This is an exciting time for Year 8 students and I strongly encourage attendance at this event to ensure all choices made are informed and understood.

I would also like to highlight some key dates that surround this year’s options process.

Monday 10 February

Appointment sheets made available to students.

Monday 2 March – Thursday 5 March

During morning form time all Year 8 students will attend options presentations where subject leads will discuss their courses.

Thursday 5 March

Parents’ and Options Evening

Friday 6 March – Thursday 19 March

During morning form time Year 8 students will have the opportunity to meet with their form tutors to receive advice and guidance on their option choices.

Friday 20 March

Deadline for option forms to be handed in to  Student Reception.
