Year 7

Our maths curriculum is guided by four key principles; high expectations for every child – one curriculum, depth before breadth, number sense and place value come first, and problem solving is at the heart of maths.

Year 8

During Year 8 our maths curriculum is guided by four key principles; High expectations for every child – one curriculum, depth before breadth, number sense and place value come first and problem solving is at the heart of maths.

Year 9

The programme of study for Year 9 is organised into distinct domains. Students still build on Key Stage 2 and 3 and they also develop connections across mathematical ideas to develop fluency, mathematical reasoning and competence in solving increasingly sophisticated problems. Students also apply their mathematical knowledge in science, geography, computing and other subjects.

Year 10

The study during Year 10 enables students to develop fluent knowledge, skills and understanding of mathematical methods and concepts, acquire, select and apply mathematical techniques to solve problems and reason mathematically, make deductions and inferences and draw conclusions. Students are able to comprehend, interpret and communicate mathematical information in a variety of forms appropriate to the information and context.

Year 11

Students continue to build on the skills developed during Year 10 including understanding of mathematical methods and concepts, acquire, select and apply mathematical techniques to solve problems and reason mathematically, make deductions and inferences and draw conclusions. Students are able to comprehend, interpret and communicate mathematical information in a variety of forms appropriate to the information and context. Students revise and prepare for their GCSE exams.
