Health & Social Care

Year 9

Students explore the care values that underpin current practice in Health and Social Care and investigate ways of empowering individuals who use Health and Social Care services. This unit is assessed over three assignments set by the teacher.

Year 10

Students explore the effects of balanced and unbalanced diets on the health and well-being of individuals and understand the specific nutritional needs and preferences of individuals. This unit is assessed by two assignments set by the class teacher. Students then go on to investigate the rights of individuals using health and social care services and examine the responsibilities of employers and employees in upholding service users’ rights in health and social care. This unit is assessed in one assignment by the class teacher.

Year 11

Students explore human growth and development across life stages and investigate factors that affect human growth and development and how they are interrelated. This unit is assessed by a paper based exam.
