What will you study?
Biology: Cell biology, Organisation, Infection and response, Bioenergetics, Homeostasis,
Inheritance, Ecology.
Chemistry: Atomic structure, Bonding, Quantitative chemistry, Organic chemistry,
Chemical analysis, Chemistry of the atmosphere.
Physics: Forces, Energy, Waves, Electricity, Magnetism and electromagnetism, Matter.
What other skills might you develop?
- Enquiry and research skills.
- How to understand information presented in a wide variety of styles.
- How to judge scientific claims made in the media.
- How to base your opinions on evidence.
- How to describe accurately, explain clearly and analyse using a wide range of skills
Career possibilities?
Employers and colleges value a science GCSEs for the range of skills and knowledge
covered throughout the course. A grade of at least a 5 in GCSE Combined Science is
required for Science based higher education courses. Many careers starting at age 16
value the skills learned from following a Science course. Many university courses in
technical subjects require A Level Sciences. It is also the basis for many vocational
routes, including: Forensic Science and Applied Science.
