Curriculum

Colchester Academy’s curriculum is designed to enable every individual student to succeed to the very best of his or her ability.  Our curriculum is based on a 5 lesson day with two further lessons taking place after the normal day has finished.  All students are required to attend lessons 1-5 and a very large number of our students attend additional lessons, individual tuition or extra-curricular activities during lessons 6 and 7.

At Key Stage 3 one of our aims is to ensure that all students develop the skills they need to be successful in the later years when following examination courses.  At Key Stage 4 we aim to provide a varied range of courses that will support each individual student’s interests and future plans.

We want learning in lessons to engage all our students.   Our curriculum ensures that each student has the opportunity to work in a wide range of ways – individually, in pairs or groups, using ICT, completing practical activities – and this allows for individual interests and preferences to be catered for.
